Positive electrode
Active substance, conductive agent, solvent, binder, substrate. The electrode that obtains electrons from the external circuit when the battery discharges, when the electrode undergoes a reduction reaction. It is usually the electrode with high potential. Lithium cobaltate and lithium manganate electrodes in lithium ion batteries. Positive electrode materials in lithium-ion batteries have the largest market volume and high added value, accounting for about 30% of the cost of lithium-ion batteries, and the gross profit margin is low at more than 70%.
Negative electrode
Active material (graphite, MCMB, CMS) Binder, solvent, matrix. The electrode that delivers electrons to the external circuit when the battery discharges, when the electrode undergoes an oxidation reaction. Usually a low-point electrode, graphite electrode in lithium-ion batteries. Negative electrode materials account for a low proportion of the cost of lithium batteries, important carbon negative materials and non-carbon negative electrode materials.
Diaphragm
The diaphragm is placed between the two stages as a device to isolate the electrodes, in order to prevent direct contact between the active substances on the two stages and cause a short circuit within the battery. While the diaphragm still needs to be able to allow charged ions to pass through to form a pathway. Marketed diaphragm material is important to a polyethylene (POLYETHYLENE, PE) polypropylene (POLYPROPLENE, PP) based on polyolefin (POLY) type of diaphragm, of which PE products are important to be produced by the wet process, PP products are important to be produced by the dry process.
Electrolyte
Lithium-ion battery electrolyte materials focus on safety, high environmental adaptability, the important development will focus on: new solvents (working temperature environment to broaden the range), ionic liquids, new lithium salts (to improve environmental adaptability), additives (flame retardant, redox shuttle, protection of positive and negative electrode into a film) and so on.
Battery shell
Divided into steel shell (square rarely used), aluminum shell, nickel-plated iron shell (cylindrical battery use), aluminum-plastic film (soft packaging), etc., and the battery cap, but also the positive and negative battery lead end.
